Vintage child's apron • c. Mid-century
I'm calling this beatiful little apron a child's apron because the strings are very short. If I had to guess, it might be a cultural souvenir or traditional costume item from another country.
The fabric is a very sheer cotton - a little more loosely woven than lawn and very soft. It is decorated with 6 silk ribbons sewn across the width. It is all machine sewn and only the top edge of the ribbons are stitched. This gives the skirt of the apron some texture but also might further support my "souvenir" theory - less stitching, faster to produce.
The apron is in pretty good condition. There is some light foxing in several areas and the hem has a small area of broken threads.
