Embroidered bridge table cover • c. 1930s-1950s
Back in the day, ladies got together to play bridge and couples joined their friends and neighbors for card games. With the popularity of card games, women's magazines and newspaper craft columns presented DIY household décor projects to jazz up these get-togethers. No doubt many featured the card suits.
This charming little tablecloth is meant to cover a small card table. The corner ties hold it securely. A++ rated for holding up under a vicious game of Old Maid.
Hand embroidered, machine hemmed; it measures about 29" x 29". One of the ties has come of and has been pinned back on with a safety pin.

What you're getting here. I'm selling items from my own collection and items I do not have room for. I'm not a dealer so things are not always exquisitely curated. Textiles are sold as-is, so please give me a shout if you have questions. There are probably stains. There are probably holes and rips. I've done my best to show this in pictures and/or video. The same applies to non-textile antique/vintage goods. Unless otherwise noted, I don't launder items, or repair them. That's on you.
Many old textiles are delicate, but some articles of clothing are in solid enough condition to be worn. Others are compromised in some way but wonderful nonetheless. They are excellent for studying, making a pattern tracing for reproduction, for use in textile conservation (calling all crazy quilt lovers!), or repurposing into art. Ann Wood makes great use of old, tattered antique clothing in her wonderful stitched dolls and objects.
Shipping. I carefully pack items but do my best to minimize excessive shipping and packing materials. That said, postage is pretty crazy these days. Shopify also throws up some barriers to easily combining shipping for the kinds of stuff I'm selling. If you wish to purchase more than one item, but the shopping cart appears to be giving you an astronomical rate, please reach out via the Contact Form and I can assist. Otherwise, I will refund any excess shipping

A word about pricing. I'm not trying to make a million dollars. I'm just looking to support my textile work and save some lovely, old things from the landfill. I've priced things according to my research but I'm not a dealer nor appraiser. You may be getting an amazing deal. You may be paying full retail. But you know what? I'm happy to haggle. Returns. Over at the Slow Sewing Shop, I stand behind the products, offer some returns, etc. Over here, it's a caveat emptor situation. I am transparent, but I make no warranties, so please ask questions.
