Fruit Basket EPP - by Violet Craft
English paper piecing is an old fashioned hand piecing technique that has made a huge comeback in today's quilting community.
It requires few supplies, is easy to learn, and is highly portable. It is also perfect for pre-cuts, such as charm squares, and for using up scraps.
Violet Craft makes a wonderful selection of paper piecing patterns. You provide the fabric, she provides the paper pieces, instructions, and inspiration. Her instructions are thorough and her projects are striking.
Fruit Basket is perfect for beginners since it uses only hexagons (the OG of EPP shapes!). The pattern provides instructions for each of the adorable fruit units, which can be used to make pillows, mini quilts, pot holders, mug rugs, etc. Or you can stitch all of them and make the wall hanging quilt shown on the pattern cover.
NOTE: Fruit Basket includes some paper pieces - if you make the whole quilt, you'll need to reuse the pieces as you complete sections, or supplement with your own. The pattern is based on, and includes, 1" and 1.5" hexies, but you can use other sizes if you wish.
